Most Recent Posts I survived.Posted Sep-19-08 20:28:46 PDT Hurricane Ike came in on Saturday night. The wind was so strong and loud,I didn't know if there was a tornado outside or not,so I grabbed my four cats and we spent the night in the closet. At first I was a little scared, but after 3 hours,I was annoyed. I really wanted to go to sleep but I couldn't since I didn't know if the roof was going to blow off. I stayed up all night until the next day. I opened the front door and watched a roof on a house across the street blow off. I've grown up with hurricanes. I've lived here in Houston all my life,so it's a part of life you have to accept. I played in hurricane Alicia when I was a teenager. A lot of kids do that kind of thing when they don't know how serious the situation is. So since I was use to this kind of thing,I went out in the rain to see if my roof was still intact. Mine was and so was my two neighbors next to me. There was so much rain,my yard felt like a muddy sponge. Objects from other houses had blown into my backyard.I'm glad I boarded up the windows. And then the power went out. It just came back on yesterday (which was Thursday). I did 7 loads of laundry today. A crapload of wet towels and muddy clothes. I'm just glad it's over. For now. I'm off to bed. This has been a long week. One I hope doesn't repeat itself very soon. Getting ready for Ike.Posted Sep-12-08 17:17:05 PDT Well,it's 7:10 p.m. here in Houston and the winds are getting really strong. It's getting dark and the eye of the hurricane will hit land here in the middle of the night. So we won't be able to see what's hitting us. I boarded up all my windows and filled the tubs with water. I baked a cake to ease my nerves. The city now has a curfew. We are expecting winds up to 110 mph. I hope I don't lose my roof. I have all that I need so now I'll be up all night, waiting it out. I won't be able to sleep through this racket. The National Weather Service said that anyone staying in Galveston faces "certain death". That's what they actually said. And I believe them. Galveston is already flooded and it hasn't even rained there yet. The surge from the sea is flooding the town and backing up in our bayous here in Houston. We are over 50 miles away from Galveston so it's a big mess already. The piers off the coast have been torn to pieces. There are two major fires going on in Galveston right now and they can't get to them to put them out. We've been told that Ike will be worse than Katrina. Pray for us all because we are going to need it. If you live in New Orleans.......Posted Aug-28-08 16:11:14 PDT Updated Aug-28-08 16:39:02 PDT Get out while you can. Gustav is heading your way and is expected to turn into a category 3 hurricane, which can have winds up to 100 mph. I can tell you right now that the levies are not ready. The Army Core of Engineers may tell you different, but it's not the truth. I've seen parts of the walls of the levies and you'd be pissed if you knew what they were made of. Parts of the walls have actual paper, newspaper, lining them! That's no joke. I have friends that live there and they have seen this stuff in the walls. As soon as that storm turns into a hurricane and heads your way, pack everything and your pets and get out. Get gas right now before the pumps dry up and head north when you have to leave. Don't head towards Houston, because we're supposed to get it too. I sat out in front of my house when Katrina hit and Rita was on it's way and watched the mass evacuation of our town. It was a nightmare.Every gas station in our city went dry. Go north because our gas has gone up in price 7 cents just yesterday. The gas stations know that it's headed our way so they are already gouging us. If you take medications, stock up on all of those before leaving so you won't run out on the road. Also, gas up your cars either early in the morning or at night when there are less fumes in the tanks at the stations. You'll get more gas than fumes for your money because they cool off in at night and less fumes are built up in the tanks. But whatever you do,if it heads your way, don't stay there. News about Yankee Candle CompanyPosted Aug-27-08 20:45:35 PDT I found out today from a friend of mine that works for the company that more than likely Yankee Candle will make the Boney Bunch Bride and Groom for next year again because of the demand for them. They had miscalculated and misjudged the demand on them. She also said they know about the auction listings for this set here on ebay and how much they are selling them for. She said they weren't too pleased with these sellers and that they watch ebay auctions of their stuff all the time for copywrite infringements and the like. So if any of you out there are selling any Yankee Candle things, watch your arses. Skull Disco Ball for HalloweenPosted Aug-26-08 11:57:54 PDT Awesome pet costume for Halloween.Posted Aug-26-08 11:42:08 PDT Updated Aug-26-08 11:43:06 PDT You've got to be kidding me?Posted Aug-25-08 15:22:53 PDT Updated Aug-25-08 15:55:27 PDT Okay,I want this set just as much as a lot of other people do since they are out of stock, but are you fucking kidding me? And I use the word "fucking" because I'm pissed at the extreme display of greed. You look at the starting bid and see what you think. I'd hope the shipping was free considering. Good luck selling them. EDIT:The seller has now offered free shipping because of a suggestion from me. If only I had won the lotto........no,still wouldn't buy it. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=140261391030&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=004 Looking for Boney Bunch Bride/Groom from Yankee Candle Company!Posted Aug-23-08 19:22:53 PDT Updated Aug-23-08 19:36:20 PDT Last blog deleted for sleep purposes.Posted Jul-10-08 21:44:15 PDT Updated Jul-10-08 21:44:59 PDT Sorry, can't stay up all night.
