Some of the hardest pieces to find when collecting Pinball Promo PlasticsPosted Oct-09-07 22:58:31 PDT Updated Nov-15-07 05:50:06 PST But first a little bit of pinball promo plastics history............ A new pinball collectible has emerged in the last little while know as pinball promo plastics or pinball promotional plastic. The promos are really just extra pieces of scrap that was cutout from the original screened pinball playfield plastics that was used in the manufacture of a pinball machine. Sometimes there was enough pinball plastic left over to make a multicolor 3-D pinball plastics promo standup. A good example of this are the Creature from the Black Lagoon 3D standups. In this Bally promo plastic set they also had enough pin ball plastics left over to make 3 other CFBL promo key chains or promotional key fobs as they are often referred to. Finally, a more recent variety of Promo Plastic is the "Speaker Cutout" sometimes referred to as sticky backs. Rather than throwing out hundreds of plain black speaker cut outs derived from the plastic speaker grill. Pinball artists created art work on them so they could be handed out as pinball promo items as a means of promoting their new pinball machine launch. These pinball souvenirs became very collectible as some pinball aficionados would push them back into the speaker cut out holes in their game. The sound would be slightly muffled, but the game took on a new look. Most of the pinball manufactures such as: Bally, Williams, Gottlieb, Premier, Stern, Data East, Sega, Alvin G. & Co. and Capcom. All produced these pinball promo plastics. Here is a very small list of the hardest pinball promo plastics to find.
There are other Pinball Promo Plastics that are also difficult to find, I will cover those in future posts. |
