Archive - September 2007 Wagin Train blames pet owners for pet deaths by overfeedingPosted Sep-28-07 04:46:19 PDT Updated Sep-28-07 04:50:25 PDT Wagin Train Chicken Jerky is made in China! The FDA announced yesterday that all Chicken Jerky Pet Treats made in China are suspect (no exceptions)! The corporate heads of Wagin Train would like you tho think they are exempt from this FDA warning, so their stratogy is to blame pet owners for overfeeding these treats(and to continue buying their product of course). I think pet owners are getting wise to this 'attack the victim' approach. Until the FDA lists the offending brand names we are not buying any of it! We stand firm on our boycotting China, Walmart, Wagon Train and any company that won't show us the common courtesy of formal recall and concern. FDA not disclosing the brand names of poisoned Pet FoodPosted Sep-27-07 12:07:05 PDT Seems like this nightmare never ends! FDA has announced that Chicken Jerky Pet Treats are sickening and killing pets in America. Unfortunately they are not releasing the brand names. See itchmo.com for updates. There is strong evidence that these treats are from China. Wagon Train Brand seems to be mentioned on Pet Blogs over the net. Wagon Train is not forthcoming in voluntary recall! Walmart was mentioned more often than Wagon Train. Walmart jas quietly removed some of these products; while threatening lawsits to the independent lab findings. But the consensus right now is: Don't feed any Chicken Jerky product to your dog or cat. It is not safe to purchase any commercial pet food at this time as the risk is too great and the FDA is protecting the manufacturers. Walmart seems to be the greatest offender. Until companies are fined for selling recalled food none of us are safe. Not our pets, not our children, not anyone. More Pet Food suspectPosted Sep-27-07 04:41:45 PDT Chicken Jerky Dog treats are causing illness and death says the FDA. They are not releasing the brand names for whatever reason. I suspect that these products are coming from China and our government does not want to take responsibility for importing "chicken" from China. We are not supposed to be bringing in chicken from China as the bird flu epidemic needs to be contained. Why we would risk it with our pets when it is not lawful "yet" to import it for human consumption is perhaps the heart of the problem. To be safe do not use any of the Chicken Jerky Treats for Dogs. I would say that human grade jerky from China is also suspect. Se itchmo.com and petconnection.com for updates on this developing problem. Buy and Sell USA made.Posted Sep-25-07 08:38:51 PDT I spent a couple days tweeking my auctions to add USA to my titles and to add to my descriptions the fact that Fiestaware is a US company and they offer LEAD FREE dinnerware. Folks are starting to realize that even our dinnerware from China could have lead in the glaze. I sold 7 dinner plates within a few hours. So even though that is not conclusive, it could be that a new buying pattern in emerging. My hunch followed by changing my selling stratogy...might be helping my sales as well as providing a fast way for folks to ditch their China imported dinnerware. I hope more of you add USA to your titles on Ebay...and I hope it brings you luck as it has me. We can beat them...we have superiour products. No reason to not offer an alternative to Lead contamination! Buy USA made products this year.Posted Sep-22-07 11:36:35 PDT I spent a few minutes adding Made in the USA in my titles and listings on Ebay this morning. I have spent many hours on the pet blogs since early spring. People are tired of buying tainted products from China and are beginning to replace everything in their households made in China. There is a tremendous call for US made products right now. With all the toy recalls recently, there is much discussion about where to even find US made toys. People are even concerned that the dishes they eat off of and their pets might be lead based or toxic in some way. I have been selling Fiesta ware for a year and until this morning didn't realize that I should capitalize on the fact that HLC is a US company and has a lead free stamp. I believe by adding made in the USA to my listings my business will probably go up, as Wal-marts stock will steadily drop. We shall see. People are looking for alternatives to buy their children toys this year...so if you are a seller of US made toys...let us all know by putting it in your title. Bravo Voluntarily recalls frozen Pet FoodPosted Sep-19-07 13:26:19 PDT Bravo has voluntarily recalled their raw diet Pet Food. See Petconnection.com or itchmo.com for more details. Walmart Threatens to Sue Lab that found Lead in Pet ToysPosted Sep-19-07 11:46:11 PDT Attention Walmart Shoppers. Walmart is threatening to sue both the lab expertox and consumer affairs for reporting Lead in their Pet Toys. There seems to be a descrepancy as to whether it is a millionth or a billionth degree of toxicity in the Lab Results. See itchmo.com for more details. I really don't care how much lead is in the toys. It isn't supposed to be there at all. And they are still selling the items rather than pull them and acting like they have some sort of right to silence the media. I personally hope it all goes to court as they haven't informed the public about tainted food. They just quietly pulled it from the shelves. No tellin how many more pet deaths will happen because they won't formally recall their food and alert the media. I hope their stock drops right off the radar. Way to go itchmo, expertox lasb and pet connection. Keep up the good work. Buy American made products Boycott ChinaPosted Sep-18-07 11:38:22 PDT For those of you who are boycotting China and have been following my blogs: See petconnection.com and itchmo.com for updates and latest recall information. It seems that even pet toys are all made in China! These have tested positive for lead content as well as other harmful chemicals and substances. Even pet food dishes are questionable if made in China. It has also been reported that Trader Joes is removing the Made in China lables as a result of consumer complaints. Too bad they just don't remove the questionable pet food! The FDA's jurisdiction does not cover pet toys. It has been pointed out that children may have access to pet toys and could in fact be poisoned. McDonalds is giving out free toys from China with their happy meals. Better get a lead testing kit before giving your child or pet one of these toys! Or just be on the safe side and not allow products from China into your home from now on. It takes a while to replace, and seek out US made alternatives. But why gamble with your pet, or your childs life and health? Buy Fiesta Dinnerware. US company, quality, and beautifulPosted Sep-16-07 12:30:18 PDT I have been selling Fiestaware for a year. It is a quality product...durable and very beautiful. It is made by The Homer Laughlin China Company in Newell West Virginia. The post 86 Fiesta is marked Lead Free and is microwave and dishwater safe. Perhaps some of us can not afford to discontinue our household goods that were amade in China. But we can certainly not add any more "questionable" items to our households. Until the import export situation is dealt with, we have to be vigilant! More Pet Food from China Recalled Smokehouse Dog TreatsPosted Sep-15-07 11:13:53 PDT For those of you who have been following the stories of the continuous poisoned food being imported from China. Check out itchmo.com for the newest recall of Smokehouse Dog Treats. Also petconnection.com has even more detail. Nothing really new here except this time it was The AMVA (American Medical Veternary Ass.) that has gotton the word out. Nothing yet posted on the FDA site but AMVA has reported that melamine has been ruled out. This product that is suspect is sold at Pet Smart. Pet Smart has as of yet to announce to the public. I guess they are following Walmarts example...to quietly pull the product from their shelves without alerting the media. I feel sorry for folks who already have bought these products and are not on line daily to check out tthe latest recalls. There has been confusion with regard to this product as the packaging is made here in the US but the actual Jerky comes from China. The US does not as of yet allow Chicken imports from China as the bird flu virus's haven't been stamped out. So inquiring minds want to know why Chicken Jerky for our dogs is being allowed into our country. In addition to boycotting China, Walmart, and now Pet Smart; we need to begin protesting the location of 2008 olympics. It is not safe to have olympics in China. Not safe to send our healthy athletes there, nor attend ourselves. If we boycott 2008 olympics it will send a strong message to China that we will not put up with the continuous poisoning of our pets, children, and general food supply. Buy USA made goods. Boycott ChinaPosted Sep-12-07 14:09:40 PDT For those of you who have been following the tainted pet food and tainted toy recalls from China. This is a great time to start thinking about what Christmas presents you will buy in the next two months. Please consider only buying US made items. Boycotting Walmart because they continue to sell tainted pet food, and boycotting China until they stop trying to poison our pets and our kids is the strongest thing you can do right now. So start shopping early so you don't cave at Christmas time. I am proud to offer Fiestaware on Ebay. It is made here in the USA and it is quality. Each piece is stamped Lead Free. There are no guarantees that the china made in China is not lead free and you might want to stop by your hardware store and get a lead testing kit if you have any doubts about your dinnerware. Also keep in mind that McDonalds gives away China made toys with their happy meals. They will probably be recalled next. Check out Petconnection.com and itchmo.com for updates on recall lists. They post days before the FDA. FDA has not yet posted about Walmarts refusal to recall their tainted dog food. So don't expect the government to tell you or the media as Christmas comes but once a year and they seem to be all about protecting the companies involved rather than informing the consumer. Be safe. Buy USA. Boycott Poison. Don't gamble with your kids or pets lives. |
