We protect animals (I love animals and own two beautiful German Shepherds), birds, fish, trees and the land.  We have the "No Child Left Behind Act," we have slogans like "Kids First," and so on, but when an adult, a parent, grand-parent, maybe a relative is rushing off to get to the office, or a dental appointment and forgets about the innocent little baby boy or girl in a car with the windows up, temperatures reaching over 100 degrees is not prosecuted for irresponsible behavior...........that tears my heart out. In most (if not  all) of the cases, it is not intentional, but nevertheless, an innocent life is gone.  Just like that. Sure the parent is remorseful, sad, regretful and has to live with this the rest of his/her life, but a child still died as a result of irresponsible behavior.  Children should really be first.  Children really are our future.  Children are really innocent.  Children really did not ask to be born.  Children need to be loved, cherished and protected at any cost.  Children should not be second to your job or your career.  Who will care for the children?
