My first Sale, that is Stamp Sale

   It actually started a few months ago when a friend at church and I were talking about hobbies and distractions.  Some how he asked me about collections, and such.  I told him about the stamp collection I was given by my father-in-law, it included a large collection of German WWII stamps, and a bunch of Artcraft First Day Covers.  From that one collection I learned the ropes of grading stamps, and more about how to even send away and get first day covers canceled.  This became a family project, when a new stamp would come out, we would design our own covers, and send them away. 

    From this conversation I found that my friends business was related to the sale and liquidation of estates, and he had several stamps from different estates which he didn't know how to liquidate.  He felt this would be a great opportunity for me to get my feet wet in a business, and maybe even earn a few bucks along the way. 

   The First sale was is a great set of Sheets which someone had in their house, stored between wax paper in a cardboard box.  These are mint, and the person was also a FDC collector, because I found a bunch of Covers they sent with the same stamps, I guess they purchased the extra stamps hoping they would increase in value.  Since I know the book value doesn't represent the true value of these stamps, I decided to jump with blind faith in capitalism.  My first big auction was a no reserve auction, for 13 sheets in mint or near mint condition. I'll blog more later on my experience, but my only concern is that I at least break even.
