Hey Everyone! I just wanted to post about how our winter is going here at Speed Demon Cycles. 2008 has started out great for us here! We've got some awesome projects going on in the shop right now including turning one of our customer's mild mannered 2005 FLHTCI sidecar into a raging 90+ horsepower beast. We are accomplishing this by installing JET cylinder heads, boring the the cylinders to 95 cubic inch, installing Andrews 26g gear drive cams, modified induction module, Rinehart exhaust and some extensive dyno tuning. We also added a Baker 6 speed tranny and we changed the primary drive ratio for more low end power for pulling that big side car around! I can't wait until the package is finished and to see our customer's face when he hears it run and takes it for that first ride!
We also have a very special restoration project going on for Rex Embrick. Rex is the events manger for WCCC a local kick ass radio station in the Hartford CT. area. Rex called and asked if we would take on the project of restoring 2 of his fathers 1976 Harley-Davidson Fx superglides that have been sitting since 1987. Rex's dad has passed away and these bikes meant the world to him and it's an honor that Rex would like us to bring these bikes back to their former glory. We got to work immediately on the better of the 2 bikes and after some cleaning and some basic checks our lead tech Eric Eckman was able to get the bike running! The bike sounded awesome, we couldn't believe how well she ran after sitting for so long. we had to call Rex and let him know the bike was alive again! Rex came down to shop the next day and we fired her up for him and lets just say it was a very emotional moment for Rex. Stuff like that is truly the highlight of being in this industry. Well we will keep plugging away on that old shovelhead and we hope to have Rex riding the open roads by early spring! 2008 also marks the start of another racing season and Speed Demon Cycles have already started their 2008 racing season by hitting the winter flat track series at a local indoor track here in Windsor CT. Rob finished the day with 5th place finishes in both his main events not too bad for the road racer turned first time flat tracker. Rob says he loves flat tracking and will return for the next race on Feb. 10. So please stop in and see us at 1350 blue hills ave Bloomfield Ct.(860-242-6905) and check out some of our project bikes or just to bench race and be around motorcycles in these cold winter months!
