Getting started is all about the trial and error of experimenting with new forms of art. Recently a few months ago I started familiarizing myself with polymer clay. I spent a ton of money- and I started to tap into my creativity. I always loved mermaids..I always loved to draw..and what better way to bring a fantasy to life- than to create it..make it 3-D...

So.. I tried molds to help me jump start.. but it didnt work out..too hard to use..actually easier to do from scratch- if you have tried this- then you know ;)

I moved on to inserting eyes, rather than painting them on..

And instead of Fantasy Film tails, (I got tired of burning myself when heating up the wires!!!) I decided to just freehand sculpt every fluke fin. After all.. it's ALL ABOUT TEH FLUKE FIN! The fluke fin captures teh most intricate design of a mermaid's entire tail....

So many ideas..so little time... while summer is here- I can sculpt as much as I like.. but come September... the classroom of needy children await!!!

I was told by few not to post many pictures of works in progress..that people will steal ideas- but I believe in sharing.. we all learn from each other.. and we all have our own style... inspiration comes from our surrounding environment........peers..colleagues..... I'd like to thank Natasha from MOREZMORE and Judy (jklarr64) for helping me get started and being so generous to share some of their expertise with me!!

Finally a few thousand dollars later..and a few sold sculptures... I am on my way...to a brighter- more mythical future...see you all in Fantasia!!
