About Me  | New MISL logos being addedPosted Feb-16-08 00:26:20 PST Today we began the process of adding 5 more teams from the old Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL). The Philadelphia Fever, Detroit Lightning, Phoenix Pride, Memphis Americans, and the New York Cosmos. This will add to our already extensive availability of vintage MISL logos. Most of these particular teams have very little written about them on the Internet. In fact, little is readily available for ALL of the old MISL teams, and any input would be appreciated. Growing up in Arvada, a suburb of Denver, Colorado, the MISL team in my backyard was the Denver Avalanche. That's right you young Colorado Avalanche fans, the original Av's were the MISL team. Adrian Brooks, Oscar Albuquerque, Tim Walters to name a few...and in goal we had Pascal Antoine, Frank Bucci, and Aly Anderson. They were all my favorite players! My father was an employee at Coors in Golden, and Coors always had Av's tickets to give away. As an 11-year-old, these games really stuck with me. The intimacy of an indoor soccer game was something I never expected. I grew up a hockey player, and soccer was never something I'd play or watch at all. But when the Avalanche came to town, I became an instant fan! In the meantime, we'll be adding the new team listings this weekend. There are just a few teams that will take a little longer because of the complexity of their hand-drawn logo (such as the Hartford Hellions). I do not have anything of good quality to reference at this time. We will eventually add the St. Louis Storm, New Jersey Rockets, Houston Summit, Golden Bay Earthquakes, Cleveland Crunch, Los Angeles Lazers, Las Vegas Americans, and Chicago Sting to round out the logos of the original MISL. Note: The Baltimore Blast are members of the current MISL and are using the same logo as the original so I would be running into some trademark issues there unfortunately. ~JD |
