Most Recent Posts The Egg Fairy Has Come Early!!!!Posted Jul-27-08 15:25:50 PDT As I stated on the 23rd, I will soon have eggs...well, guess what? They are finally laying. I have three s0 far and they are small, but the most beautiful perfect eggs you have ever seen. My girls are going to be laying brown and blue eggs. So far all I have gotten are brown...but I have faith that I will see some blue ones before long!!! Just really excited and can't wait to see what I might find this evening when I go down to check water tonight!!! On another positive note, my auctions are doing well. I am happy, happy, happy about how well they are going. Yes, I am hooked on this Ebay Thang!!! Hey, give a shout in my guest book if you get a chance, and let me know who has been checking out my auctions! Happy Day to All!!! -Tanja Eggs Are In My Future! & many more tidbits!Posted Jul-23-08 06:07:53 PDT Okay! Now my roosters(of which I have three)are really getting busy with the courting thing! So I have this feeling that it won't be long before I am up to my eyeballs in EGGS!!! I have thirty seven hens soooo...you do the math!! On another note, I am really excited that my auctions have been going really well. I want to be able to, at some point in time, to donate a portion of my auction sales to ALS Association. I am passionate about this cause more than others because my mother in law Robin Hoagland passed away four years ago from this terrible disease. If you are not familiar with this disease, please go to the ALS Association main website or go through links in the non profit organizations list to find out more about it. I know from taking care of my mother in law for the last year of her life, that this disease can be and is a fast mover. Life expectancy is around two years after diagnosis. So if you haven't thought about donating to a worthy cause before, this one would be a great place to start. So n my future auctions be on the lookout for my charity ribbon icon. And if you do see something that you want to bid on, please do so and help me with a worthy cause. Thanks Ahead of Time for your Support!! -Tanja
Proud Chicken Mom!Posted Jul-10-08 05:37:00 PDT I am raising chickens and they are sooo much fun! I have 37 hens and 3 Roosters. They are almost to the laying stage and for the first time today I heard my two Rhode Island Red Roosters make their first attempts at crowing!!!! It is fun to watch and be proud of them at the same time. they are taking an interest in the ladies( I call them my fat bottomed girls) so eggs and baby chicks are in my future!!! I have Silver Laced Wyandottes, Golden Laced Wyandottes, Black Sex Links, Rhode Island Reds & 2 very domineering Buff Orphington Hens. I would of had 45 birds but a single coyote killed two of my roosters and three of my hens. So instead of letting them free range :(, they now have a spacious run and are doing well without yote doing them harm.:) I know, I need a life if this kinda stuff makes me happy but hey! it is something that I always wanted and now that I do, I am a proud chicken mom!!!
