Buying a parts car

If anyone is buying a car for parts or a parts car to restore you are treading on thin ice. There are many questions that need to be asked to kep from being stung. A picture an only show so much and many photo programs will enhance pictures to make a piece of junklook presenable. ASK ASK or if close enough by all means go look it over. If you are located in a state like ILLINOIS a title is required for any vehicle (junk or not) If it has a salvage title then that is what it is. A liscensed rebuilder is about th only way to get a vehicle back legal after an insurance company has paid off a claim and totaled it and done their thing with the title. If a car is bought with NO TITLE be carefull. There probably is a good reson for it. (1) the bank still ownes it. (2) It doesn't belong to the person selling it ***HOT***??? (3) lost title ( which can be fixed thru the secretary of state) orrginal owner has to apply for losttitle. Buyer or owner can either pay for it and it can be placed directly in the buyers name with a signed proxy form for secretary of state. So definately check state laws in your state.
