Most Recent Posts My cb550 projectPosted Jun-18-07 23:58:09 PDT I found a descent cb550 deep in the back woods of south carolina, and have stripped it down to the bones. So now the process begins. This is not my first bike, but it is my first rebuild/restoration. I am NOT a mechanic but can compute technical data, handle most all of the cosmetic work, and for the guts I have a great shop [bad monkey motorworks] behind me. there are lots of questions I have about aftermarket compatibility and performance that I hope to start discussing through this blog... I'm waiting for a new shiny complete motor with 9000 miles, a black 4 into 1 mac header kit, new grips, mini speedo, new custom foot pegs, float bowl drain kit, float bowl o-rings, clutch and brake levers... all should be in by weeks end... In a box I've got my new throttle cables, three sets of new bolts and screws, new drag bars, new tires on bike, new plugs installed... and a haines manual. most everything on the bike is in good condition, and works properly, so I believe this will be a moderately easy project for little cost. (compared to a new stock bike) I plan to set it up sport bob style... kinda tracker, kinda rat like, bobber-ish, naked, performance oriented undedicated to any classic style. I guess once the rear end is established and completed it will define the style more-so than I can right now... I'm just going to take the parts I pick, take them to Bad Monkey, and figure it out... any and all input for aftermarket performance parts for 1977 cb550 would be greatly appretiated, and yes, I am very interested in your project.. honda or not... |
