Timex Atomic Radio Controlled WatchesPosted Jun-22-06 07:27:49 PDT Updated Jun-26-06 07:57:56 PDT When I wrote my guide on Casio Atomic Watches back in February, I said that typically an Atomic wristwatch will only receive the time synchronization signal broadcast in your home country. Since that time I have found a couple of exceptions I would like to share with you. First, Casio has select models that will receive both the US signal and the signal in Japan. It is one of the settings while you are getting the watch ready to use in your local time zone. I was selling some of the WVA510 Wave Ceptor models with that capability, but I'm not sure if I will get more in stock. Second, I started selling Timex Radio Controlled watches. The models I've seen will automatically select between the Japan, Us, Great Britain, and Germany transmitters based on the local time zone you select for the watch. I will mention that Timex has also made the unique choice to have a plastic back to their Atomic watches (instead of stainless steel). I'm sure this helps the tiny antenna inside the watch work better. PS - Timex likes calling their models Radio Controlled because governments operate the true Atomic Clocks and broadcast a radio signal the watches synchronize with to set themselves.
