Our Thoughts

Anonymous Bidding Sucks!!!

Anonymous Bidding Sucks!!!

We agree that the average user gets hosed in this and that eBay has set its own likely downfall. None of the changes have really improved more than the appearance of political correctness (for those watching from the outside I guess) and fails to protect or improve the quality of the ebay experience.

Now you won't know...

1. which major player in your chosen fetish is on the prowl again
2. the same seller had multiples going for different prices and not knowing which newbie (and/or dummy) keeps jackin’ up the price for no legitimate reason
3. if the seller you plan to buy from won the item for $15 and you now can bid for $75 starting bid a month and a half later.
4. NO ability to do market research; to determine the actual selling value (what it goes for on ebay) based on Who is buying and why, to Figure out your friend (ebay or real) is bidding the same item resulting in you driving up the cost for each other for no reason, whether to bid or snipe high based on a particular bidders recent purchase and their likely to bid high or aggressively, whether the bidder is using his buying account and then selling it on the selling one for much higher, whether the seller is using another account or one of his friends to regularly drive up the final cost of the auction (so that you can avoid buying from them.

As usual “THANKS” eBay (NOT)!!!

I think eBay fully knew our complaints. They didn't do anything then, why would ANOTHER go at it make a difference. It's their site, if ONE (Or even 100) didn't like it..... it's their stance that they don't have to be here then.

i always put my items on private listings as all my buyers were getting harrased by bogus sellers in china to purchase there items instead,so this is not fair atall so we had to go private and it has now put a stop to all that,so no i dont agree atall

I agree with you. But the solution is: Don't bid on those items that are private. I don't. Perhaps if people didn't bid on "private" auctions people wpuld stop putting them up. To me, it encourages shill bidding and doesn't make for a "community" feel when you have private auctions and private profiles.

I'd let buyers deal with ebay regarding getting contacted by supposed sellers from China. I believe if people are honest then there's no reason to keep listings or a profile private. To say something is STUPID simply because YOU don't agree is very telling of your mentality

ALL AUCTIONS NOW SHOW i****h instead of a username. (at least in the US)

Folks...we are getting a little off topic. The issue is everyones name NOW being anonymous on all auctions (now under $200 too) not private listings or feedback.

Fake second chance offers and spam are not a problem for US. Nor do we customarily buy from china or the products offred by US sellers that are the same.
We made our profile private on this and per ebay rules not on our selling account.
it in no way reflects on our honorabilty or trustworthiness. We also generally never bid on private listings because the seller may juice the bids with another user or account which hurts us not them. Ebay and the people who have spam issues should resolve them and not attempt to ruin what is left of an otherwise good Flea Market/ Garage Sale for everyone.

My friends who ebay (and I am sure many others) Are considering not buying on ebay anymore and limiting our selling. We feel this latest stab only makes it easier for scammers and for sellers to "get" newbies on the high bid.
The types of items we buy and sell are not bulk/wholsale or readily available, they are 1 offs, hard to find, or otherwise rare which lessens the likelyhood of there being tons of them avaiable. There are Also a small worldwide group of about 60 members who sell Swatches(our chosen fetish) regularly, that we recommend ...out of thousands who sell or have sold them.Let's try again this time on topic

OFF Topic posts may be deleted!!!! (to encourage a useful discussin about the topic)

I fail to see how the new changes in respect to private bidding identities encourage
bidding as a whole. I am finding the bidding process less enjoyable. Subsequently, I am bidding less. I am less confident in knowing who I am bidding against. The process seem
more mechanical, and less personal. Buyers who have been to an offline auction
enjoy the security of knowing who they are bidding against. Personally I avoid bidding on items with private reserve bids that are phoned in. On a plus side, I find being able to profile buyers here on ebay with their buying habits by catagory a nice invasion of privacy, NOT!
I am guessing the biggest reason this policy has been implimented is to discourage fake second chance offers. It must be frustrating for Ebay to manage this, and understand growing pains are a reality in a market place such as this. The main point I would like to make is we need to encourage new buyers, and secure trust to established buyers. I fail to see how
the new policy implementation addresses these two points. People generally gravitate towards what they find enjoyable, and stay when they feel secure.
