Free Quick*Sell Gallery from ISDN*tek DO NOT GO ON PRIVATE GAMESERVERS; A WARNING TO ANYONE CONSIDERING GOING ON REALM OF MANEFESTO'S "PRIVATE" GAME.Posted Aug-27-08 09:54:52 PDT I thought he'd taken the hint and stopped trying to lure eBayers to his
little scam site, but I see he's still at it, though he's trying to
cover it with chat and videos, and now with a "new server". I am a gamemaster on an online game (with official COMPANY servers located in Germany & the USA), and I just want to give a warning to anyone who is foolish enough to consider downloading a program that will connect you to this person's (I can't call him a "gentleman", because he's been far from gentlemanly) computer/server. @ ANYONE WHO'S CONSIDERING IT: ANYONE WITH A "PERSONAL GAME SERVER" CAN LEAVE BEHIND A PROGRAM ON YOUR MACHINE - UNDETECTABLE BY VIRUS SCANNERS - GIVING THEM BACKDOOR ACCESS TO YOUR COMPUTER LATER THROUGH WHATEVER PORT YOU CONNECT TO THEIR SERVER THROUGH ... NEVER EVER PLAY AN ILLEGAL/PERSONAL SERVER. I'm serious, folks ... don't do it. There are programs that slip right past your firewall and give quiet access to your computer through what ever port you've allowed the game to connect through. I like how he turns off comments after his "detailed" instructions. btw, not every online game is suspect. Sites like steve-o-meter's is web based, and you go there and play there. The ones to be careful of are the ones that ask you to download a client that you then install on your computer. Remember, this kid is inviting you to directly link to HIS computer (that he's hidden the IP address to, so you can't find him, though he can find you easily enough). If that's not enough of a warning, then ... whatever. I tried. One blogger's daughter attempted to download the client, and it triggers a virus scan warning. When informed of it, the gameguy gave the blogger instructions on "how to get around" the warning. Another blogger who works in internet security has found questionable links/information/potential malware on the site. Please be careful. ONLY VISIT OFFICIAL GAME SITES AND DOWNLOAD OFFICIAL CLIENTS. I don't post a lot of "outside eBay things" in general, but this one's serious. The Cruelest Month ...Posted Aug-26-08 21:55:27 PDT T.S. Eliot claimed it was April ... for me, it's September. I was at the dentist yesterday and they gave me a card for my next appointment. I make a point of putting the date into my calendar as soon as I get home ... where did August go? And now, September ... used to be a month of great anticipation, filled with birthdays and anniversaries of family and friends ... among them my birthday and wedding anniversary, a week apart in the middle of the month. My husband liked it that way ... "we can plan something and go away ... summer's over, so the crowds will be gone, but it's not so cold the weather will be bad ... it's perfect and we can spoil ourselves, because it's your birthday ... then we can spoil ourselves again, because it's our anniversary. Remember? That was the day we started 'happily ever after', right?" For ten years we treated it that way. Summer was a busy time at the museum, but September and October brought a small lull in activity, school started, so it was quiet ... perfect to sneak away. Now September mocks me for nearly every one of the 30 days. My parents anniversary, my grandparents ... my cousin's. My brother's birthday, two of my best friends. I send them cards and call them and wish them well and happy. That bleak week in the middle of the month ... ugh. The remembrance is more the way people feel about September 11 ... sad, sad, sad. I go to the beach and think about swimming to France. There's nothing across the whole Atlantic between me and France ... just a looooong refreshing swim. Or something. So here it is again; September. This is the third one that's snuck up on me since my husband died. Maybe if I work extra hard, it'll be over before I realize, and it will be safely October. Hey, Anonymous Reporter ...Posted Aug-26-08 09:17:11 PDT ... maybe you should do a little research before you "turn people in for illegal blogs", eh? Angelfood Ministries is a non-profit organization that provides assistance & grocery relief to people for a reasonable price. The information was given to ME here on the blogs, and I've passed it along to people here and in my real life. I'm not sure why you were offended by the post, whoever you are who reported the post to Trust & Safety, but I make no profit or anything of the sort by putting out the information. I did it purely in the hopes that someone else could be helped the way I was. Nice community spirit, though. Do you also pull the wings off butterflies when it's dead on the blogs? I'm not sure what you think you've accomplished by reporting a post about a non-profit assistance organization. What I do hope is that you need help one day, and there is no one for you to turn to, because you have burned every bridge. To the rest of the eBay blog community: you have my heartfelt apology for posting such a terrible thing. I didn't realize pointing out possible non-profit assistance for someone who may have a need was equal to posts of racist & sexually offensive nature ... my but this has been an educational morning! Question: In filing UPIs, should I do more than enter them at first?Posted Aug-23-08 15:03:44 PDT I've just filed four, unfortunately with the same person, who bought several items out of my store and won an auction and hasn't paid (the oldest item was purchased two weeks ago today). I sent invoices, contacted eBay Live Help, and eventually even requested contact information, called and left a (very NICE!) message to try and get in touch with her somehow, asking her to check her spam filter, etc. She's purchased items and gotten feedback since this all started, so it's not like she's disappeared off the face of the earth; she's also sent two invoice requests (I'd sent invoices before the request, and more after the requests ... with no payment or responses). Should I post my side in the information box on the dispute console, or wait until she responds? I have all the emails and invoices, saved the conversations with Live Help, and even told her in the last communications (a Payment Reminder through the eBay system & the message I left on her phone) that if I didn't hear from her I'd be filing disputes today. This is very frustrating, but I know I've done everything right from my end. Advice? QUESTION: Is it worth listing auctions to end over Labor Day weekend, or is it dead around here?Posted Aug-23-08 09:24:23 PDT I wasn't listing a lot full time this point last year because I was still sick from radiation, so I don't remember how business was. Is everyone gone for the last summer fling and getting ready for school madness? Should I just hold off on anything that will end that weekend? I have a lot of inventory to list, so that's not a big deal, but there's not point in listing auctions if nobody's gonna be around to look :( Advice from experience?
