Mrs. Obama certainly did look fab on The View last week in a sweet little black and white sleeveless dress. An omen perhaps: she bought it at clothing store called White House Black Market! Not only has the black and white combo been a big fashion trend this year, but Michelle is also bucking the more matronly look that many first ladies and first lady hopefuls have sported over the years. Hooray, a 40-something woman with good taste and fantastic upper arms!
Anyway, back to the dress. It was designed by Donna Ricco and is apparently sold out at most White House Black Market stores. You can back-order it from the company web site as of today (6/23/08) and their estimated ship date is mid-August. But it's a summer dress you say, and you need it now! Well, a couple of ebay sellers are offering it right now. Do a search for "Obama Dress" and it will be revealed to you. (Make sure it’s the real thing, though.)
And expect to see some cute replicas of this dress in the coming weeks as well, probably a lot cheaper than the $148 original. Try searching ebay for "Black White Sleeveless Dress" and some real stunners might turn up. I predict that this will be the look to have for summer parties, dates, weddings, etc. Here’s to the achromatic look!
