I have been a teacher for 10 years. I teach middle school science and can't think of anything else I would rather do. People ask me if I am crazy. Maybe. But I love what I do. I love the kids. I love their middle school gawkiness. I love their lack of inhibition of asking questions. I love the fact that they still see adults as friends. I love the fact that the girls burst into tears over the boys that don't pay attention to them (probably because boys are still playing with leggos). I love that they are just beginning to find their voice to try to stand up for themselves. I have taught in low income neighborhoods and college preparatory schools, and they are all the same.

These kids are challenging, loving, quirky, and confused. I love them all. I have never met a middle schooler I did not like. They are all beautiful in some way.
