8" Fairy Adult - WIP #5

July 1, 2008

Ok, I know I know, I'm starting too many projects at one time. Here is another sculpture at the armature stage. This will be my first adult female fairy at 8 inches tall. I have always done 3-4" child fairies so this will be interesting!

WIP sculptures 3, 4 & 5 are all happening at the same time. So hopefully updates on all of them soon, unless I decide to only work on one right to the end.

Here is a photo of #5

- the arms are not posed yet, I used magic sculpt to join the wood together on the base.

10" Fairy - WIP #4

June 29, 2008

This fairy doll sculpture is starting with a strong wire armature covered in polymer clay. My first attempt at a 10 inch doll.

6" Fairy WIP #3

June 27, 2008

I usually sculpt 4" fairy dolls so this 6" one is a big change for me. It might not sound like a big difference but I should be able to get much more detail into this size of sculpture.

Photo: 19 gauge wire armature with polymer clay 'bones' to help bulk it up so the sculpted area is not too thick and bakes properly. I might need to bulk up the torso a bit more.

I have also been adjusting and experimenting with child proportions.  Here is a picture of my child doll template I created for this sculpture.  As I said, I'm still experimenting so this template may change for future dolls.

The head is sculpted and baked. Now working on the body.
