Archive - June 2008 10" Fairy - WIP #4Posted Jun-29-08 17:27:15 PDT Updated Jul-18-08 05:20:10 PDT June 29, 2008 This fairy doll sculpture is starting with a strong wire armature covered in polymer clay. My first attempt at a 10 inch doll.
July 18, 2008 I have decided to cover this armature in air dry clay. I just got a pack of LaDoll and want to try it out. However not much free time right now with the little one not in school. This sculpt might be set aside while I work on the other 2 WIP blog sculpts and my regular ebay fairies.6" Fairy WIP #3Posted Jun-27-08 05:23:44 PDT Updated Sep-02-08 11:47:48 PDT June 27, 2008 I usually sculpt 4" fairy dolls so this 6" one is a big change for me. It might not sound like a big difference but I should be able to get much more detail into this size of sculpture. Photo: 19 gauge wire armature with polymer clay 'bones' to help bulk it up so the sculpted area is not too thick and bakes properly. I might need to bulk up the torso a bit more.
I have also been adjusting and experimenting with child proportions. Here is a picture of my child doll template I created for this sculpture. As I said, I'm still experimenting so this template may change for future dolls.
July 4, 2008 The head is sculpted and baked. Now working on the body.
![]() Sept 2, 2008 I'm scraping this fairy sculpture. Too many things are going wrong - moonies and clay trouble! ____________________________________________________________ |
