You can buy this at any local garden center or retailer. Once you have the organic soil mixture, you can add additional elements such as food waste and other typical home composting items. Then, when you are ready, you will want to dig about 12 to 18 inches into the ground. This is the area that you will be filling with the soil. In my experience, the deeper you dig, the better the final results of your garden. I think that the reason is that you will give your roots as much breathing room as possible. Roots don't like to be cramped. And, for me, it's always worked to go a little extra space than a little less. So now once you have dug a hole for yourself, you will want to put the soil into the ground. Don't pack the soil too hard. I did that once, and it turned into a concrete-like clay and it was terrible. Next, you will want to cover your precious soil with a weed filter. You can buy these at local stores as well. The weed filter will prevent weeds from growing out of your soil. You can ask the storekeeper how it works. It's pretty cool. And then once that is done, you can add extras to your soil. For example, nutrient boosters or helpful organisms such as earth worms. These will help eat the critters that eat your garden. Enjoy your new soil!
