Evening all! What's everyone got for sale today?

Hi everyone!  Haven't been on today, just working to complete my listings that went up without pictures last night (finally got them all fixed) and am taking a break from packing shipments to sit here with the little munchkin in my lap and have a short breather.  So what's everyone got for sale today?

Take a browse through my 102 listings and you'll find lots of women's clothes (most brand new), a huge lot of baby boys 3-6 month clothing, a huge lot of maternity clothes (not havin another baby, no way, just hope I'm not jinxing myself selling these), shoes, toys, collectibles, glassware, lots of vintage stuff, and original art.  Take a peek, a lot of my stuff starts at 99 cents and those that don't are still cheap.

What's everyone else got tonight?

Good evening everyone! Just finished uploading 50+ auctions....I'M EXHAUSTED!

Well I got almost all of the auctions listed that I wanted to...just flat ran out of time.  I've now got 101 listings up, a personal record!

My categories now include glassware, womens clothing, childrens clothing, shoes, collectibles, toys, diecast, frilly unmentionables, hockey stuff, coats, baby stuff, maternity...plus a few more my brain has managed to lose track of.  Oh yeah, and I have new art up.

I'm proud of myself but I'm fried...might turn in early tonight and play some Xbox in bed while little guy practices his crawling.  He made his first journey across the livingroom floor earlier tonight!

Hope everyone is having a great evening and the 20 cent listing day was successful for you all =)

Need help finding a category for these

Where would I list a set of McFarlane Metallica figures?

Second question:  Where would I list a set of McFarlane Where The Wild Things Are figures?

All I can find that's even close to appropriate is under the Comics section, there is a Figurines subcategory, but neither of these really fits in the comics section as they're not comic book characters.  And under Decorative Collectibles there's no place these would fit in at all.

Any ideas?

Morning Everyone! I Listed 4 New Original Art Prints Today! Pop Art Too =)

One is a charcoal sketch, the other three are altered photos I took.  Take a look and let me know what you think!  I'm trying some realism and pop art:

220073006934
220073006902
220073006874

And my valentines drawing is still here (sold two of these already, yay):
220072524499

And my Fiesta pop art from yesterday is here (have watchers on this!):
220072736370

Thanks to everyone for the advice and critiques yesterday on my first two attempts.  I discussed this with my husband last night and he wants me to continue---he's been bugging me for years to try to sell some drawings, but I've always been too shy about my work.  I've never thought it was good enough for anything except my own enjoyment.  Thanks to your encouragement (especially jcarolek and artchamp) I'm finally giving it a try and am having a LOT of fun, whether I actually make anything off it or not =)

Sold My Second Sketch Today!

SO thrilled!  (Gotta love those sympathy purchases, lol...let people know you're not a good artist but you try real hard, and they run out to buy your stuff and make you feel better!)

You bloggies are awesome =)

I'm going to run this sketch through valentines day, I'm hoping it will make a good gift.  If anyone has any suggestions on how to improve my listing please let me know, I'm always open to suggestions.  I'll be listing more art later, hopefully a different sketch tonight and maybe another later this week.  We'll see how it goes.

Thanks again artchamp and jcarolek, you've done wonders for a stay-at-home mom's self esteem with a single click!

Any Candle Makers Out There?

Do we have any candle artists here?  I have a question about supplies for you.

I've got about 100 baby food jars in various sizes, all clean and pristine, with lids.  I was thinking they'd be perfect for home candle makers, but a while back I listed a big lot of them and got no hits at all.  They are spotless and smell-free, having been rinsed thoroughly and then run through my dishwasher on the heavy duty cycle and then steam sanitized at the end of the wash.  All labels and label residue have been removed.  I listed them very cheap and thought they'd sell at least for the minimum bid since candlemaking supplies are so expensive.  But no such luck =(

Think it would be worth it to try listing them again?  If I made candles, I'd be using these myself, they're actually very nice and the metal lids seal down very well, which would preserve the scent of your candle.  I put them in the candle making supplies category last time...any suggestions that might help me have a successful listing this time?  Or should I just suck it up, buy some wax, wicks, and oils, and make the candles myself and sell them instead?

Any input would be appreciated.  With eBay's ever-increasing fees, I can't afford to be listing stuff that isn't going to sell, so I'd like to market-research stuff first before committing to a listing.  This seems like a good place to get good advice =)

Just Sold My First Sketch!

I'm SO stoked, I've gone and sold my first piece of original art here on eBay.  My Knight In Shining Armor print has found a new home!

jcarolek, I took your advice and listed my next one as a multiple-item listing and will accept offers.  We'll see how that goes.  I'm so excited about selling one that I'll probably accept any offer that comes, lol.  I'm so tempted to go wake hubby and tell him the news, but he's got to get up at 3 in the morning so I'll just stifle myself and wait till tomorrow.  He'll be thrilled for me =)

Thanks again to everyone who posted, for the support and advice---and to you connie for buying my print!  I'll have that framed up and shipped out ASAP.  I hope you love it!

The new listing for Knight In Shining Armor is #220072524499.  I'll give special "best offer" consideration to folks from here in Blogland =)

Finally brave enough to try to sell my sketches...we'll see how this goes

I've been wanting to start selling some of my so-called "artwork" here on eBay but have been too chicken to try....I'm not what you'd call a great artist and I really only draw for my own enjoyment.  But I was sort of inspired by the clownface guy and the lady who is selling her son's spraycan art and decided---what the heck---let's give this a go.  So I've posted my first attempt, a piece of romantic fluff in honor of valentines day that I *hope* someone will want to give to their significant other.

All critiques are welcome...buyers are even more welcome =)

Item #220072516185

The Pajama Picture Is Up!

Those of you who were here earlier this afternoon know what I'm talking about...I'm only posting one of the pictures, the others weren't actually very good of the items to be listed so I'm going to have to redo those.

Those of you who weren't here earlier, this morning I took some pictures of stuff to be listed---shiny reflective glassware---and after uploading them I realized my reflection was in each picture.  In my pajamas!!

I promised to use at least one of the pictures, so the auction is now up and running...just look for the word "bonus" in the title, lol.  It's the cobalt shaker, the very last listing on my auction list.

I REALLY don't want to be the new teapot guy (girl), but a little traffic to my listings would be a nice side effect of my stupidity.  And if anyone wants to buy the shaker, I'll print you out a copy of the listing picture and mail it along with your item for free =)

All My Shipping Prices Were Wrong! Thanks For Pointing It Out To Me =)

I forget who it was, but on an earlier post today someone mentioned my shipping rates seemed a bit high.  I didn't think anything of it and went on about my business.  This evening I went to start my new listings and noticed---yep---the shipping on all my other auctions was WAY too high!  I use the same Turbo Lister template over and over and just change the details from listing to listing, and had neglected to change the shipping numbers on my last batch of items.  I've changed them all now to a much more reasonable rate, so if you had checked my listings earlier and were scared away by the s&h, please visit me again!

Thanks to whoever it was that pointed it out earlier today =)

Today's "Whatcha Got For Sale" Post

It's time for today's Whatcha Got For Sale!

Me:  Right now, Waterford crystal, vintage Homer Laughlin china, lots of vintage kitchen glassware, and vintage Matchbox diecast vehicles.  Later this evening I'll have vintage HLC Riviera and Harlequin, plus a couple of rare miscellanious pieces and hopefully some other stuff, depends on how much time I wind up with after hubby and baby take their respective chunks out of my evening.

Remember folks, tonight's the night you might get to see me in my PJ's!  LOL---those of you who were here earlier are probably looking forward to this with a sense of fascinated horror.  The auction pictures in question will be going up as is, since I didn't have time to redo them like I'd hoped.  Anyone who doesn't know what I'm talking about, have a look further down in my blog for an explanation.  That is, if you dare =)

So what have YOU got for sale today?

Unbelievable!!

I just spent a half hour photographing glassware only to upload them to my computer and discover that YOU CAN SEE ME IN MY PAJAMAS in nearly every picture!!  I guess I shined everything up too well because the reflective surfaces caught me and my blue striped jammies perfectly.  ARRRRGGGGGHHHH!!!!!

I don't know if I should redo them or just let them go to auction as is and hope nobody dies laughing.  I don't want to become dubiously famous like the fat naked guy in the teakettle.

Constructive Criticism Welcomed

As some of you know I'm new to selling glassware...I've sold the odd piece here and there but never as much as I'm selling right now, and never quite as valuable.  If anyone would care to take a look at a couple of my listings and let me know what I could do to improve them, I would welcome the criticism, because I have quite a bit more to be listed in the next few weeks and want to do the best I can on them.  I've looked at other people's glassware listings and tried to incorporate as many of their methods as I could into my own without copying anyone.  Anybody care to offer some advice on how I could improve anything?  Always looking to better myself and welcome any assistance in doing so =)

Thanks in advance!

Whatcha Got For Sale Today?

Time for my daily share-your-wares post...what's everyone got for sale today?

I've got 10 listings ending in 4 hours, lots of vintage and contemporary Fiesta, vintage Pyrex mixing bowls in a variety of sizes, Corelle dinnerware, etc.  As soon as they go off I've got 30+ listings going up for more china, some Waterford Crystal, lots of collectible barware and other assorted glassware.  I'm new to selling glass so maybe someone can give me some constructive criticism on my listings.

Post your goodies here and we'll all take a look at each other's auctions!

99 Cent Auctions

How many of you have good success starting your auctions out at 99 cents?  Mine usually do okay, but this week I started all but three of my items out at 99 cents and the ones that are doing best are the ones that I started higher.  Is it a psychological thing, you think?  Cheap opening price = must have something wrong with it?  Personally I do it to keep my listing fees low, the rate hikes are killing me because I'm just a smalltime seller without constant stock.  Those of you who do the 99-cent thing, how do your auctions usually do?

What Have You Got For Sale Today?

Thought I would join in on the "sellers helping other sellers" movement and offer a space on my Blog for everyone to post their wares.  Check out my goodies and post your own while you're here!

I currently have a vintage cobalt Fiesta ashtray, vintage gold Fiesta Ironstone ashtray, Fiesta Juniper mugs, several vintage Pyrex mixing bowls, some Corelle dinnerware, and John Lennon infant toys.

Is This Kosher?

Is it acceptable to just forego feedback entirely when a transaction isn't as good as you expected it to be, without bothering the seller with why you're not thrilled about the item they sent you?  When it's not bad enough to warrant negative feedback, not bad enough to waste your time or the seller's time on, but still not good enough to deserve a positive either?

I just received a batch of goods that were listed as "brand new, never used, have been stored in their original boxes for years, in perfect condition" which turned out to actually be partially true...two of the items looked like they may have been mostly new, but one was questionable and one was outright filthy and very used.  I don't mean filthy as in dusty from storage, I mean filthy as in grimy with stove grease, fingerprints, and dried splashings of goodness knows what (looks like brown gravy, but I'm not tasting it to see).  Pretty gross, actually.  These are all supposed to be "never used", but this stovetop trivet appears to have seen some heavy usage during its years in the storage box.

I can wash it, no problem.  It'll be good as new once I get it cleaned up.  But I paid a premium price for these items BECAUSE they were supposed to be in mint, unused condition.  I wouldn't have paid as much as I did if I had known they were actually used and dirty.  The seller has 100% positive feedback (40 total) and I don't feel like this is worth contacting them over, and definitely not worth ruining their perfect feedback over.  But it definitely doesn't deserve positive feedback either, because it appears I was outright lied to.  I didn't get what I was promised in the condition it was promised in.  On top of all that, she charged me $20 shipping and it only cost her $12.  I'm all for handling fees when they're reasonable, but this is a few bucks too much....the packing materials were just stuff everyone has around their house (used shopping bags, etc) so she pocketed a rather large difference there.

All in all, I'm not really happy with the details of this transaction, but not displeased enough to send anything back, file a SNAD, or kick up a fuss with the seller.

So is it kosher in this case to skip feedback entirely, leave the seller alone, and just quietly move on?

What's With DHL?

Let's start off by saying I REALLY dislike anything being sent to me via any shipping service other than USPS.  I live way out in the country and NOBODY gets it right---every time, and I mean literally EVERY TIME someone sends me something through somebody other than the postal service, there are problems.  I get my mail at a post office box in the town next door, it's the only way to safely and accurately get anything to me, but with the new trend toward using anybody BUT the postal service, I'm having more and more problems getting anything delivered without major stress.

UPS hates coming out this far and gives attitude about having to make deliveries; I generally wind up waiting through at least three "delivery attempts" and calling the main branch office to complain before I eventually get my package.  I have an electric gate about an eighth of a mile down my private road and they KNOW they're supposed to honk and wait for me to buzz them in...but I have actually sat in my car at the gate waiting on them to arrive, and then given up and gone back to the house to look up the tracking status on my package only to find "delivery attempted" falsely stamped on my status page---again---with the time recorded as the time in which I was actually sitting at the gate waiting on them.  UPS lies, and they don't even lie good.

DHL is another story.  Who are these people anyway?  I have a package that has been in their possession for over a week now...who would use a delivery company that takes over a week STANDARD to deliver a 5 ounce package?  But here's the clincher on DHL.  My package was due to be delivered today, according to their online tracking.  I watched the page all morning for status updates until I saw that it was actually on the truck and out for delivery.  Then I went and sat by my front door for two hours, rocking my baby and listening for them to honk so I could open the gate and let them in.  Baby napped, movie went off, baby woke up, still no honk.  I returned to the computer to check the status again and it had changed---now it said it was delivered, to my front door, in person, and signed for.  The address is 100% correct.  They even sent me an automated phone call to tell me they had just handed me my package.

Funny, I can't seem to find that package anywhere.  I don't have any recollection of having it handed to me, much less signing for it; heck, I didn't even think I buzzed the gate open for anyone today.

Why can't people just use USPS?
