Cleaning Marks On Items to Buy and Sell

These are tips that I have used to clean marks off of items that I buy and sell.  Please share your tips in the comments.

  • For marks imbedded in the vinyl or rubber, such as ink, permanent marker, or where dark clothing has left stains, apply an acne medication. It may take several applications, but the results are fantastic.
  • Use hairspray, sprayed lightly on a tissue, and rubbed gently on a book cover to remove magic marker price marks.
  • Grapeseed oil (as used for cooking) can remove marks and pen marks from plastic toys and rubber toys and can remove marks from painted surfaces or hot stamped decoration/insignia areas. This oil can sometimes dissolve or loosen all sorts of old and new pen marks on plastic, rubber, old tin toys and nonporous collectibles.
  • Using a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser or any other type of cleaning pad made from Melamine Foam moistened with nothing more than water is the safest and most successful meathod of removing dirt and even ink marks without damage to any of the doll's features.
  • Here is an easy way to clean vinyl dolls. I use whitening toothpaste (specifically Crest) and a little warm water. Apply toothpaste directly to stain, let it set for a minute or two then dip a soft cloth in warm water and rub gently. Rinse with warm water and repeat if necessary.
  • Most everyone has a simple pencil eraser somewhere in the house.  This is your secret weapon. Make sure you have a firm grip on the toy and work somewhere that if you do drop the toy has a nice soft place to land.  I like to use a towel on the table to not only prevent the toy from being damaged but also to catch the eraser dust. Simply erase your scuffs away.  Its that SIMPLE!

Busy Morning Ahead Shipping 20 Sold Items

I had no time over the weekend to box up the sold items because I was at a District Democrat Convention to decide on delegates to go to the MN State Convention and then hopefully to the National Democrat Convention in June. The meeting was boring and mind-numbing!  I left at 4pm while the meeting was still in progress with a pounding headache. When the meeting was over I barely had enough energy to look at my sales. Slumped over in my office chair, I sent invoices and printed sales receipts of Sassy Pig Banks and Troll Dolls.

I slept in on Sunday because I always have a hard time with Daylight Savings Time, whether it be Spring Ahead or Fall Behind. When I awoke, I immediately started cleaning my house and dusting the cobwebs in the corner. My aunt was coming over to visit and drop off the case of Girl Scout Cookies that I bought from her granddaughter. We had a wonderful visit but I forgot to offer her a beverage or even a Girl Scout Cookie!  Bad hostess!

After she left, I ran to Walmart to buy more boxes for the sold items. Upon my return, I noticed more items sold in my store. I really should have started boxing up the items last night but Big Brother was on TV.  After watching the episode I had to read Joker's Updates on the internet to find out what I missed over the weekend. I can spend hours watching the videos of the action in the house!  Before I went to bed, I printed a few more sales receipts and sent another invoice to a buyer.

Now, I must drink my last drop of coffee and spend the next hour or so immersed in bubble wrap, peanuts, packing tape and making sure I attach the correct shipping label to proper box.  I love busy weekends especially when they're successful.
