My MIL sent this to me this week, lol.

Southern Skinny Dippin'...

An elderly man in North Carolina had owned a large farm for several years. He had a large pond in the back, fixed up really nice, along with some picnic tables, horseshoe courts, and some apple and peach trees. The pond was properly shaped and fixed up for swimming when it was built.

One evening the old farmer decided to go down to the pond, as he hadn't been there for a while, and look it over. He grabbed a five gallon bucket to bring back some fruit.

As he neared the pond, he heard voices shouting and laughing with glee. When he came closer, he realized it was a bunch of young women skinny-dipping in his pond. He made the women aware of his presence and they all went to the deep end to shield themselves.

One of the women shouted to him, "We're not coming out until you leave!"

The old man frowned and replied, "I didn't come down here to watch you ladies swim naked or make you get out of the pond naked." Holding the bucket up he said, "I'm here to feed the alligator."

Moral of the story: Old men may move slow but can still think fast.

I  love county fairs. I love the smells and sounds...the festive lights...all of it. I don't get on rides that leave the ground or go around in circles, but I enjoy strolling through the animal barns and the midway.

Sunday's trip to our local fair was a lot of fun.

I made more skeeball points than my husband did, but still didn't win anything. On my last game I was 1,000 points (1 score) away from the big prize, had one ball left, had scored 10,000 with an earlier throw so I could feel victory coming up, and then I blew it with a gutter ball! Oh, well. The fun is in the playing, not the prizes.

We spent a lot of time in the horse barns as there were so many to see. Scott wants horses someday. I think I am fine to admire all the time and money that others put into theirs, lol.

The biggest smile for me was coming upon a little boy sitting up high on top of several stacked bales of hay in the cow barn. As we walked by he stopped me with a friendly "you can pet them if you want to". Well, he had a calf and cow at his side, so why not? To clarify, I asked him if he meant that I could pet the little one. (I have fun at the fair, but I am not forgetting those things have teeth!) "Both of them" he says with all the patience of a "grown up" child...then he proceeded to explain that the calf's name is Europe. Now I thought that was a pretty cool name for a calf! Then he tells me that the mama cow's name is eBay! That is going to make me chuckle for weeks.

I have to say it was a near perfect day. I got lemonade, a walk hand in hand with my husband, skeeball, and I met a sweet little kid with a cow named eBay :)
