I was in car accident last night

I am very thankful that nobody was hurt. It really put me behind on everything so I have catching up to do today - along with calling insurance and arranging to get my truck fixed - but I have been thanking God over and over for no injuries!

A 17 year old girl turned out of her stopped lane into the side of my truck as I was driving past her in the right hand turn lane. Her and her boyfriend were upset that she got a ticket. They didn't understand why the police didn't blame me. (I would have had to be driving sideways to have hit them : )

The mother in me was thankful that they were okay. Their Dodge Neon was no match for my big pickup truck. Then the mother in me wanted to scold them for telling a fib and using foul language, LOL. I was just going to Sam's Club to buy bubblewrap!

Yeh, it wasn't like I hit them at all...they hit the side of me. They were saying they were going to fight it so it is probably going to get interesting. I remember being 17 and even had a fender bender myself. But I said I was sorry, LOL!

well....
as a teen, i ran a red light and got hit by a large truck, totalling me and my car at the same time...... I wanted to lie.... curse..... scream... blame someone else..... but, it was OBVIOUS that i was at fault. lol..... so there was no point in lying or covering up how careless i had been.....
I hope everything works out, and i hope theres some generous insurance involved. hows the truck?????

morning treasures glad to hear everyone come out of it okay.teens on the road these days are scary, i was watching a documentray about it and most are so preoccupied with cell phones and not paying attention like they should.

My door is dented in and scraped up. When I drove later the wind whistled through cause the top is sealing. Should be interesting if it rains!

Yeh dr it is driveable - just hurt a little worse than I thought at the scene. Their car was driveable too. Luckily I drive slow, LOL!

Yeh, christie...the mamma bear side of me could have whopped her one, but the cop was so irritated at her I figured it was covered :)

ooo wonder if this isn't her first accident and is worried about what the parents will say? could be why she acted the way she did, unfortunately she apparently didn't realize its just gonna make it worse for her.

good idea tru! Thanks! I didn't think of it. My son is sure to be over today and use the camera. he is the car expert in the family - and a police officer.

Hi carol - her reasoning seemed to be that I should have stopped...which I did when she hit me but it didn't help since she was beside me. As it turned out the officer that took the call is the traffic accident reconstruction specialist on the force. She really didn't stand a chance. He didn't care that she was 17 and cute.

Hi cnt. Actually, I am glad to have woke up to sales this morning and stuff to ship - I couldn't deal eBay last night so I didn't see the sales til today :)

Yeh, jp. I wanted to reassure her until she started acting like I ran her off the road instead of the other way around. It has to be tough. I remember my first accident.

I was in a similar accident where a man was departing from a car which pulled over to let him off. A car was directly in back of them waiting for them to move.The person was impatient and quickly changed lanes which caused her to run into the side of me.The damage was on my right side and on her left fender.The damage was minimal but the accident caused the departing man to fall out on the pavement.The lady who caused the accident apologized to me for causing it.We exchanged insurance information and I left to go on my way.A week later I get a notice in the mail that the person who fell out on the pavement had contacted a lawyer to recover damages. I had notified my insurance company that day to be aware of the accident.My insurance carrier said her story on the accident was not acceptable.She tried to put the blame on me but my insurance company thought otherwise

It happens ALL the time......someone remembers that this is their turn while in the wrong lane. AND while looking ahead (trying to avoid the car in front of them) and turning their wheel........here comes some Jack #ss rolling at 40 mph (past a line on cars waiting at a red light) in the right turn lane (probably looking to run the red light) and gets tagged. KEEP UP THE PROFESSIONAL DRIVING SPEED RACER
probably didn't even have your lights ON FOR SAFETY.
Now I know why my insurance keeps going up........it isn't from MY accidents.
