The late Heath Ledger RIP

This is a week when Heath Ledger's shock death astounds most celebrity followers.

Being such a stay-out-of-the-limelight actor he took an absolute eternity to assemble a pack for eBay.

We did however watch eBay, amazed, after Heath's death was announced on Sky News.

At that time, on standard auctions, there was just 1 DVD for auction - and that was worldwide (excludes eBay stores).

In th next few hours that leapt to around 400 items. In 24 hours it was around 1300. It now stands at 1574!!

Fancy an autographed photo? Well it probably won't be signed by Heath. Just take a look at the loads of varying scribbles that people are pushing as authentic autographs. Even worse people are buying them for around $200+ (£100+). Do these people not think it strange that no two signatures look alike? The phrase .... more money than sense...... comes to mind.

The Heath Ledger saga reaches a new level of strangeness when today's news reports that the masseuse apparently phoned Mary-Kate Olsen TWICE about the deceased Heath BEFORE phoning an ambulance........... bizarre.

Rest in peace Mr Ledger you leave behind you a very odd world!

Paris Hilton out of jail

Well the fiasco of the year is over and Paris Hilton is out of jail having served half her sentence.

Whether that includes the few days she spent enjoying the luxuries of her home - who knows?

Actually who cares?

The whole thing has been just another huge publicity coup for the Hilton heiress since her sentence was first announced and all it does is make people talk about her the more (for better or for worse) and enables the paparazzi to remain faithfully at her side adding more fuel to the Hilton publicity machine.

Paul McCartney and Heather Mills

The Paul McCartney / Heather Mills split is the hot gossip topic at the moment.

Media coverage is such that nobody will probably ever know the real truth about who is/is not at fault and from an outsider's point of view I always wonder:

1. Who cares?

2. Is it our business anyway?

3. Does being a celebrity automatically give the rest of the world the right to pry into your private life?

Personally I don't find this sort of celebrity news in the remotest bit interesting. I'm more interested in reading about an artist's career rather than their private life. 6 pages of a newspaper filled with accusations of who did what to who seems to me to be a bit of a waste of paper.

I can see why such news would be of interest to someone who has followed everything that artist has got up to in their life - i'e. a true fan. But why it's expected to be of interest to the public in general I really don't know - I just don't regard that as news.

And for those who do regard it as news how much do you believe? Do you believe Heather's version of events, Pauls version, neither version, take the view that it's "six of one half a dozen of the other", or just take the whole thing with a pinch of salt?

But just because this type of news doesn't fascinate me you may disagree :)
