My brother has never really been one to express an interest in the deeper meanings of the things I create, actually most of the time he doesn't really seem to care much. Perhaps he just feels he can't express such things. I thought it was wonderful that I was able to bring him out of his shell a little bit so I sent him an explination on what I have been calling "The Love Birds." I hand cut the hanging piece out of red brass. The design reflects the couple coming together to share their lives. ![]() Ash Unicorn's Garden http://www.unicornsgarden.com An Interesting AccidentPosted Aug-04-08 14:36:19 PDT Updated Aug-04-08 14:40:32 PDT I was working on a pin the other day and accidentally found a unique finish for pieces. The pin started out in a usual fashion where I hand cut the design of a penguin into a piece of yellow brass then soldered on a pin backing and then placed the entire pin into an acid bath to clean off the effects of the torch. When I pulled the pin out I found out I had accidentally copper plated the pin! After a bit of sanding I realized the combination of yellow brass showing through the copper really is a cool effect. I will be trying this same process on purpose once I get the squirrel necklace I am working on polished up. Here is the result on the penguin pin before it has its final polish ![]() Ash Unicorn's Garden http://www.unicornsgarden.com |
