Years ago while at an auction, I bid on, and won a "box lot," all I wanted was just one thing in the box, but got the whole box.
That started it all.
What I found in the box, besides the item I wanted, was a small penny bank. It wasn't just the bank that caught my attention. It was the advertising on the side of it. I remembered as a kid getting a bank like it when I first began putting my unspent allowance into my savings account.
Well, I started me looking everywhere for them and now I have over 200 different kinds. From all over the country and a few from outside the US.
Family members now know what to give me as a present. I truly love getting them. Each one has a connection to my first box lot.
This summer I intend on making several displays for them all.
The funny thing about the banks is they don't have to be old. Just "Banks from Banks."
So the next time you see an item in a box lot, think of each as a treasure for some collector on Ebay.
