Why I Love the Redskins Part II

Even in the offseason, they are fun to watch! Joe, we're going to miss you. Feel good about what you did! Mr. Snyder, please don't do something dumb like hiring a new coach from outside of the organization. I don't want anymore 5-11 seasons. We need to build on what we have. Make Williams the head coach, and keep Saunders around!!

Oh Yes They Did!

Ohhhh Yeah! It does not get any better than the 'skins beating the hated Cowboys in the final game of the season to get to the playoffs!

Hail to the Redskins!!

Why I Love the Redskins...

Its because, after all the adversity they have faced this season, these guys and their coach are able to win such a big game as tonight's away from home. These guys are nothing but resilient, and that is an amazing quality these days. Hail to the Redskins. A win like tonight's can erase a long season of disapointment. Well done 'skins!!!

Rounding it Out...

OK, so, here's how the final days went...

Day 18: Took my first-ever wind-surfing lesson. By the way, this is MUCH harder to do in the ocean than on a lake! Just ask my friend Emo..... In any case, this was totally fun. After a couple of hours, I was able to take the board upwind and downwind. I even successfully tacked (sp?) without falling down, although I fell plenty! Anyway, this was a ton of fun.

Day 19: Dolphin encounter. Went to the marine park with the kids and my wife, and the whole family had a dolphin encounter. This means we waded into a dolphin tank with the trainers and were able to pet the dolphins, hold their flippers as they danced on their tails, even give them a hug. Again, an amazing event. The kids loved it, and while I'm not sure what to think of animals in captivity, I don't think the dolphins minded it too much. By the way, when I read the book the Life of Pi, it changed my mind a little about animals in captivity, as a positive thing!

Day 20: Hike in the rainforest. Hawaii is amazing with all of its different micro-climates, and the hike in a rainforest did not disappoint. Lots of interesting flora and fauna!

That's it. That's the end of what was a once-in-a-lifetime vacation!

Changing Tactics...

For the rest of the vacation, rather than describing what I am doing the moment the alarm goes off, I'm going to use this space to describe the highlight of the day. That should avoid the whole "shower" problem that has been haunting this blog. BTW, I realize that this is not the most interesting blog to read, so I'm just letting you know that I'm doing this more to chronicle the time for my own purposes rather than to provide an interesting read to those in the blogosphere. I apologize in advance for the tedium.

Day 16: Actually, this time when the alarm went off, I was heading back with my wife and kids from getting Shave Ice -- an island treat. Basically, this is a little like a snow cone though the ice is shaved finer, and the flavors are more interesting. Also, you can have ice cream added. Another favorite thing to add are Azuki beans, which are sweet, red beans favored by the Japanese.

Day 17: Went to famous Hanauma Bay for some snorkeling with the family. Unbelievable coral and fish! Everyone had a great time.
