Rounding it Out...Posted Jul-24-07 12:15:14 PDT OK, so, here's how the final days went... Day 18: Took my first-ever wind-surfing lesson. By the way, this is MUCH harder to do in the ocean than on a lake! Just ask my friend Emo..... In any case, this was totally fun. After a couple of hours, I was able to take the board upwind and downwind. I even successfully tacked (sp?) without falling down, although I fell plenty! Anyway, this was a ton of fun. Day 19: Dolphin encounter. Went to the marine park with the kids and my wife, and the whole family had a dolphin encounter. This means we waded into a dolphin tank with the trainers and were able to pet the dolphins, hold their flippers as they danced on their tails, even give them a hug. Again, an amazing event. The kids loved it, and while I'm not sure what to think of animals in captivity, I don't think the dolphins minded it too much. By the way, when I read the book the Life of Pi, it changed my mind a little about animals in captivity, as a positive thing! Day 20: Hike in the rainforest. Hawaii is amazing with all of its different micro-climates, and the hike in a rainforest did not disappoint. Lots of interesting flora and fauna! That's it. That's the end of what was a once-in-a-lifetime vacation!
