Most Recent Posts Home Office Workers AssociationPosted Apr-14-07 16:53:43 PDT Hi All, I am a home worker, not by choice but by fate. I worked in corporate America for several decades until health issues hit and I was a victim of "The Downsizing Of America" (as I jokingly call it now). At first it seemed like punishment to this obsessive workaholic. Then it became a dream come true. I love my 35 foot commute from bed to office desk, stopping to pet my dog "Thor" when I want a break, listening or watching home entertainment centers from my own store, and going to take a long walk whenever I get the urge. The way it evolved was that many of my friends had home offices, when I was still too disabled to work. I heard a thread of common complaints which mostly consisted of not being able to receive the same deals on home office equipment like computers, printers, computer desks, file carts, and home entertainment like home theater stereo, plasma tv's etc. (a lot of us like to have something to listen to or watch while we work). So I felt like Akaryoid and Belushi in Ghostbuster and I was on a mission. It was yet another school of hard knocks, now in early 50's trying to get past the middle man to become a "factory/manufacturer rep". Presto. Not really presto; it took a year of hard knocks and dealing with middlemen who knew nasty tricks to make them appear to be "in" with the manufacturer. But with the help of education (I returned to school as well in business at Western Governors University www.wgu.edu, my eyes opened and I saw how easy (well still took a lot of work) to make deals with the manufacturers to match or beat (often beat) prices of the "big dogs". I decided to never add shipping costs wherever possible (except on extremely heavy supplies like hdtv's or plasma lcd's etc., and even then at minimal fee. Most of my products are shipped free UPS Ground with tracking. You can also call the manufacturer to see the MRSP (manufacturer's retail suggested price) and look at Internet2yourdoor's price. I think you'll see we really DID do our homework. Our prices are 35-65% discount and generally free shipping. We still have challenges and obstacles. It is hard to get folks to open up and let us know what they want or need. It is difficult to form the Home Office Workers Association but I'm in the process of trying. Thanks much for letting me ramble. I really would love to hear you experiences regarding working from home, your challenges, the way you promote, success/failures and anything else is fair game (keep it clean please). I look forward to meeting you all. Sincerely, Rick Internet2yourdoor http://stores.ebay.com/Internetdeliveryfast |
