Dave Ruminations on Positive ChangePosted Mar-22-07 07:24:07 PDT I am the creator of my reality. A key component for me is to evoke the law of attraction and create positive circumstances for myself and all those around me, is to meditate. I meditate every morning for 30 minutes. Going to that stillness within opens up a direct connection to source. That is the true me. That is the energy that creates the physical manifestation of my life circumstances.
I am correcting all perceived lack and imperfection with right thinking. My thinking, my feeling, and now my actions are changing. I feel a growing exhilaration as I know that this change in me is permanent, and I am now moving into living without limits.
I am correcting my lack of abundance with corrective, positive, thought feeling and action. I am also working on joy. I can be joyous – I’ve just been sullen for a few years and that stops now.
Health is good. Better than it’s ever been. A few years ago I discovered yoga and began to transform physically. The one thing I would love to correct with thought would be my eyesight. It’s been done.
Feel good for the rest of the day. That is the most important thing you can do!
The fight or Flight Response and Addiction to Negative ThoughtsPosted Mar-20-07 07:21:49 PDT The fight or Flight Response and Addiction to Negative Thoughts
As many of you now know, I’m deep into studying the law of attraction as well as the power of the mind. I’m reading as much as I can, as fast as I can as I build critical mass toward a total transformation of my thinking.
I recently finished a book Called “Evolve Your Brain”, By Joe Dispenza D.C. He was one of the doctors and educators featured in the hit movie “What the Bleep do we know?!”. This book is essentially the science behind The Secret (referring to the book and movie by Rhonda Byrne).
At 500 pages, it’s very heavy with medical jargon and background. The reader gets a crash course in neuroscience. It can make for a laborious read at parts but enough science on the brain is presented to satisfy the greatest skeptics. This stuff is real and the mind creates your life. Joe Dispenza shows us the neurochemicals processes that are going on under the hood.
I have a very specific insight on all of this that I would like to share here today. Now I may be getting a term or two wrong here, but bear with me. When we have a fearful negative stimulus or thought (like a bear is tearing apart our campsite), the thalamus creates peptides that travel down neurotransmitters to our cells where they become hormones. The appropriate hormones create the fight or flight response – blood flows to extremities for fast action – heart races – awareness heightened – adrenaline in pumped into the blood stream. Now normally, once either the bear kills us or the danger passes, our fight or flight state of heightened alertness recedes and we revert to a normal state of mind.
This is how is always works with animals – just observe your dog or cat. The problem with the modern human animal is that our survival issues have changed. Will I be able to pay the mortgage, will I keep my job, will so and so approve of me – the list goes on. That turns on a low grade of the fight or flight response and keeps it turned on perpetually like a slow burn. That leads to our chronic stress and quiet desperation.
Here is something I did not know about this process: as those peptides that create the stress hormones in our cells are constantly pumped out, our brains become used to that particular chemical balance and we literally become ADDICTED to negative stress inducing thinking. This is not dissimilar to a narcotic addiction. Whoa.
Most of the book lays this groundwork while the last two chapters attack the art and science of mental rehearsal to change our thinking and create new thought patterns as well as the ultimate evolution this could lead us to. All in all a worthy read. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who has seen “The Secret” and is still skeptical.
I actually feel better thinking on myself as an “addict”. From Reactive to Proactive ThinkingPosted Mar-13-07 06:37:54 PDT I am the active creator of my reality. I see this now. All that comes into my life, I am creating. The problem is that when we are not conscious of this reality, we are more like a reactive creator. We feel as though the outside world and circumstances have dominion over us and we react to something we feel we have no control over.
Many of us have created our entire lives in this way. That is why so many of us are desperate and unhappy, even though our outer circumstances might no look so bad to others. We are RE-acting and living our lives in default to others and to circumstances.
I for one am taking back my power. I am catching my negative thoughts all the time. I’m sitting in meditation. I’m saying thank you. I’m selling off most of my stuff – my distractions. The old me (who wasn’t really me anyway) needed that stuff.
I know that I can deliberately create anything I can conceive. The trick now is to conceive and believe it. |
