Most Recent Posts The wearing of kiltsPosted Jul-18-07 07:35:27 PDT Men, one day I became interested in wearing a kilt. I had always wanted to wear one, but like others just did not think it would go over well here in America. While living in Burlington, Vermont I spoke with several people who thought kilts were really cool. I purchased one from Hot Topic, not a traditional kilt, but a kilt non-the-less and started wearing it. The attention I received from women surprised me, admiring looks, sidways glances, smiles, etc. I keep myself in shape as well which goes a long way in women liking what they see. Although, it doesn't seem to bother women when it comes to a man wearing a kilt. I've seen all types. When I moved to Florida, I hesitated, again, only because I didn't think Florida would be a good place to wear a kilt. However, I purchased my first traditional kilt on ebay (a Royal Stewart) and as soon as it came I put it on and walked to my daughter's school to pick her up after school. I was a hit with the middle schoolers and especially with my daughter who felt like she was a rock star because her dad was wearing a kilt. Both daughters and my wife gave me tons of support with wearing my kilts. Soon, that is all I wanted to wear. Now 2 to 3 years later, that is all I wear. The comfort is astounding and the freedom is something to really enjoy. Wind is a factor to contend with, but I found that some women like to watch me in the wind just like I like to watch them in skirts in the wind. I've had women come up to me and start pulling my kilt up to see what I was not wearing underneath. I've had women want to take pictures from underneath my kilt. I've had my picture taken so many times just from walking around that it amazes me. I see girls taking pictures of me with their phone cameras when they think I am not looking and with their digital cameras when I am looking. Some want me to pose, some just want me to stand still while they take my picture. Some want to be in the pictures and have their boyfriends take the picture. Men, ya just gotta get yourself a kilt. It is NOT a skirt but people do confuse the word only because they cannot think of the word "kilt". I have a t-shirt that says "IT's a KILT, if I wore anything underneath, then it would be a skirt". I've had lots of popularity with that shirt. I don't wear all the trappings of traditional kilt wearers. I have incorporated the kilt with mostly t-shirts and other pull-over shirts, kilt socks or soccer socks and motorcycle boots. There is a company in Seatle, Washington that sells Utilikilts that, I'm told, is sweeping the west coast. Kilts are going to become a viable choice in what we can wear. Get yours now and become an icon rather than a follower. You will be amazed at the comfort and ease you feel while wearing one. You will also be astounded at the attention you get from the ladies. What is to stop you? Get a kilt today and start a movement in your town. You will be amazed at the respect you receive from other men while wearing your kilt. My daughters tell me that I look like a real bad-ass in my kilt. I've been told by other men that they wish they had the balls to wear a kilt like I do. It takes a man to wear a kilt, you cannot be bothered by what other people say, it really doesn't matter anyway does it? You can never please everyone so why start trying, why not start by pleasing yourself and to heck with what others think. Go for it, men. |
