So, what is the payment method you are using?
It still seems like a big risk and eventually, you may be back here complaining about a non-paying bidder who has their product in hand.

I think eBay encourages sellers to NOT ship, until they are Paid ?

This amounts to You, extending Consumer Credit - without offering your 'customers' any type of disclosures so all you are doing is making it so that YOU as the seller have NO Rights what so ever.. You ARE just willing to give your stuff away, arent ya?

ooooooh!. I got screwed twice doing that! Just recently even. I let the bloggers get a free kick at my hind end for doing so. The one that happened recently.. she is now unregistered.

Good for you but...I find this to be VERY RISKY!!! You are too trusting-especially when Ebay promotes their sellers to NOT ship until paid!

I once received an item before the PP e-check cleared. I was very surprised. I do have 100% positive feedback so the seller must have felt safe doing this. I have only sold a few things and would not be comfortable sending out an item without getting paid first. Maybe if it was only a $5-$10 dollar item I would be willing to take the chance. You are a very trusting person and best of luck to you!

I've got a lot of users saying that I am taking a risk,but I have been doing ebay this way for some time using this payment method,(I call it wisp)It works on trust ,and simple math.I use the bidders feedback as the way to see if you qualify to use this method(if not a money order works)see my auctions...The math comes in when you start to add up all the money you loss as a seller to Pp,or other credit card processors..If you sell something for .99 on ebay,you do better giving it to goodwill(it's free) In the long run if someone screws me on a sell,it is better then getting screwed on all sells using other payment methods.. I may be the only one doing this,but maybe it will start a lot of other users with the stones to find other methods of payment besides the ones out there at this time..

I have done this several times as well, I think it is an excercise is KARMA knowing that you yourself are HONEST, it is a way to cast out the bread onto the water. It will come back to be that your customers are trustworthy. It makes a heck of a lot of sense, if you DO NOT LISTEN TO E-BAY. Don't you remember the FIRST TIME you bought something, and you had to SEND MONEY FIRST! The fear that you would be ripped off? The wish that you could just get it in your hands FIRST, then you would be delighted to pay for it. What if it is BROKEN, then you are just screwed, until that moment you get your money back, AFTER YOU HAVE HAD TO WORK TO SEND IT BACK.

I think this is a very forward thinking IDEA, and it is ahead of it's time, but I hope that this idea's time is indeed ahead, a great TRUST SYSTEM.

You are a good man. This is how eBay should work. I have sent items in the past like this and I have never been taken once.

I have also had people send me items this way. It works most of the time and we have also developed many nice relationships with buyers this way.

The new eBay is going to kill a lot of sellers off, especially those that just sell a few things here and there.
