Subject: HOW SMART IS YOUR RIGHT FOOT

>
> Just try this. It is from an orthopedic surgeon............
> This will boggle your mind and you will keep trying over and over again
> to See if you can outsmart your foot, but, you can't. It's preprogrammed
> In your brain!
>>
> 1. WITHOUT anyone watching you (they will think you are GOOFY......) and
> While sitting where you are at your desk in front of your computer, lift
> Your right foot off the floor and make clockwise circles.
>>
> 2. Now, while doing this, draw the number "6" in the air with your right
> Hand.
> Your foot will change direction.
> I told you so!!! And there's nothing you can do about it!
> You and I both know how stupid it is, but before the day is done you are
> Going to try it again, if you've not already done so.

This is the first weekly tip sheet.  I hope that you will find them useful in developing as a wonderful volleyball official.

I truly believe that we all become better with each and every match that we call.  I strive to learn something from every partner and every match.

Tip # 1 -- Always maintain proper posture on the stand, don't lean, slouch or prop. Stand tall and confident, yet be relaxed ! lol, I know easier said than done ! It does work though, if you stay relaxed and appear relaxed the coaches, player's and fans will be more comfortable and confident with your ability and calls.

Tip # 2 -- When to leave the stand at the end of the match.  The Referee (R1) should remain on the stand until the end of game protocol has been completed by both teams (handshakes are finished).  Yes, that means we should stay on the stand while the teams shake hands and then exit with our partner.

Tip # 3 -- Blow your whistle with confidence and blow it loudly ( so that everyone in the gym can hear).  Today at a Tournament, a player's Mother (the team was from South Carolina) approached me and said "I want to Thank You" ... she continued to say "Thank you for blowing your whistle loud.  You blow it loud enough for us to hear it" ... she commented that it must be hard to blow it loud because they have many matches where the official's whistle is rarely heard by the fans.  She continued that she really appreciated it.  So ... blow your whistles out there this week ... inquiring ears want to hear !!

Hello From Tennessee !!!

It has been a gorgeous day !!!

I just returned from the USA - AAU Junior Olympic Beach Volleyball Championships !!!  It was a beautiful trip but I am happy to be home.

It was so much fun officiating !!!!   LOL ... I did end up with a bit of sunburn on my neck .... LOL ... but it was well worth it !!!

I was selected to officiate the Girl's 16 year old National Championship match between the USA Girl's 16 National Champions  and a girl's team from Toronto, Canada !!!  It was an outstanding match .... the gold medal was won by the Canadians with the girl's from California taking the Silver Medal.

LIFE IS GOOD !!! .
