The Suwannee River

my greatest memory of working at camp was a 14 day canoe trip we took on the Suwanee River....

Canoed on the Suwannee many times. It is beautiful. Truely God's country

I spent one weekend in live oak florida on the suwanee in a mobile home that was 30 feet off the ground on telephone poles, so that when the river rose..the mobile home would not get flooded..it was the wildest weekend ever..LOL>>>

Some of the busiest weekends on the river are, Labor Day, The 4th and Memorial Day. All the springs, campsites and rental properties are full for days before. The sandbars on the river are teaming with many people unknown to each other, looking to find new friends over an afternoon conversation and cocktail. It's hard not to be in a good mood in the beauty of nature in The Forgotten Florida. I'm happy to see other have great memories as I do.
