Hitachi G1000 PDA-Buyer Beware w/Happy Ending

The Hitachi G1000

My husband was searching & searching for a PDA/Phone & was so excited when he bought a REFURBISHED Hitachi G1000 for about $130...from a reputable eBay Power Seller w/great feedback. The item description stated that it was 100% Complete-ALL functions working...it even came w/a money back warranty. So, we felt pretty safe w/our purchase. Then...

Once we rec'd it, all functions SEEMED to be working. We called Sprint to have our service transferred to this phone, no problem. The next day, I sent him a Text to his NEW phone & it repeated itself literally 46 times!! He wasn't able to call out or rec'v any calls either. We called Sprint again...they stated that it "wasn't set up properly the first time." We went through the process again, same problem the next day. Then...

We had a choice...we could return phone to the seller (at our shipping expense) or take it into Sprint & see what they could do. So...We dropped off the phone at the Sprint store to see if it was their fault or the phone's. If they could fix it, they could charge up to $55 depending on what was wrong. Well, we came back in an hour later...good & bad news. There was something wrong w/the phone internally, that they weren't able to fix...bad news, but the GOOD NEWS is that because they couldn't fix it, for $35, they replaced it (because the phone is such an old brand, they of course don't have those in stock) w/ a BRAND NEW, Audiovox Sprint PCS Smart Device PPC-6700 - Retail $649 & gave us the Start up kit w/case, cradle, headset, etc!! My husband was ecstatic!!

Now, I don't know if they trade in dysfunctional old phones for brand new phones all the time, but it worked for us. Also, I don't condone doing this just to get "something for nothing", but this might be an option if you get a "BAD" cell phone from an eBay auction & they don't offer a refund. It can't hurt to check to see it your Service Provider can fix it or trade it...either way, you might get a working phone out of the deal.

Hope this gives you a few choices for a seemingly "lost cause"  :-)

All about ME & MY Store

Well, I’m not really sure what a “Blog” is or what it’s for, I guess it’s just to get yourself out there into the eBay community…so here it goes. I’ve been addicted to eBay for 6 yrs., starting out buying sports cards, martial equip/art & anything else I could think of. I totally got caught up in the whole bidding war…completely addictive. Once I got the hang of it, I started selling CD’s, books…that’s when I got familiar w/Half.com (eBay’s sister site) where I currently have listings.

Now, 6 yrs later, I’m married to another eBay addict (I’m just better at it :-) With his encouragement, I now have an eBay store, my younger brother is my web designer, & the store’s getting bigger & better every day. Right now it’s just a fun “tax right-off” (I just tell myself that, so that I don’t take too big of a risk yet). But, it’s doing SO well, & I’m getting such great feedback…I’m gonna devote more effort into treasure hunting for great finds to sell to my eBay friends :-)

I guess that’s my “Blog”, hopefully I did it right….I’ll add to it as new “events” happen. Check out my store MISC. MAYHEM. & put me as a Fave.Seller & it’ll have a link to my Half.com listings :-) Much luv :-)
