Most Recent Posts Sleeper accounts..what to look forPosted May-13-08 19:41:40 PDT They have been eBay members for 6 months or a year, yet have no feedback. Never amde a purchase. And then all of a sudden they go in and buy up $600 dollars or more of your highest priced items. They will do that to sellers with low feedback, inexperienced they assume. Heck, most of us that have been around the eBay block have multiple accounts, for multiple niches, selling all kinds of items, each account specializing in one thing or the other. So the lates scammer thought they had a newbie and bought several hundred dollars of my highest items. Then they toold me they wanted it all insured, wanted to know the address for a claim, should the need arise. No one goes in and spends several hundred dollars form a low fb seller, it just doesnt happen. Anyway, then they sent me an email and said they had bought the smae items from another ebayer (after they had told me that the items were birthday gifts for her 3 kids). so she buys 6 identical presents for 3 kids, and spends $1200.00 ? Yeah right......lol, OH, and buy the way, whats the number to call to get my money back when they dont arrive...YEAH RIGHT! I smelled insurance fraud a mile away. But does it matter if she gets her money back and keeps the items as long as I made money too on the sale? Well that is a philosophical question for a later time I suppose, since she also filed a paypal dispute to try to get that money back too!!! So her purchase of the watches , if her trick works, would get her $1800.00 and 3 cell phone watches....wow, I should go shopping with her...lol\ However, I am letting paypal onto her, and they know about the insurance money she cant claim it AND claim I never sent the items (plus the tracking). And I might just contact her local authorities to let them know about her scam. ALSO: Be on the look out for fake ebay and paypal emails saying that you sold an item, but that the buyer is overseas, and that due to increased risk, paypals new policy is for them to hold the money in a separat paypal acocunt until you provide trracking numbers showing the item has been shipped. Then they will release the funds into your acocunt. This IS A SCAM!!! Paypal never holds fuinds like that! I have received this type of scam twice, from the same nigerian 419 scammer. And you know what ebay has done about it? NOTHING, he still has his account and 2 sleeper accounts that he has tried to get me with.\ Paypal is investigating, bujt the ebay end of the ebay/paypal corp doesnt seem to care that scammers have turned from trying to scam by selling, to trying to scam by buying. Its a new era, SELLERS BEWARE, only sell high priced items ($300 and up) to individuals with 130+ purchases to be safe. :D Thanks, |
