Most Recent Posts Give me some coffee... I need it!Posted Aug-08-06 04:32:56 PDT Hey everyone, it's about 4 30 am here, and yep.. I'm STILL awake. these orders are driving me nuts. I'm not going to get any sleep tonight, my nephew is due to arrive at noon (babysitting), and god knows I won't be getting anything done once he gets here.... that kid is wild! As soon as I get caught up, someone buys a whole crapload of stuff, then as I'm making that... other people make smaller orders.. all at once, so I get backed up and really stressed trying to finish them all on time! I'm finally getting caught up, everything awaiting shipment is within the time frame I ask for to finish orders, and I've got enough money in paypal to fill my gas tank and maybe buy some food lol. *sigh* any seamstresses out there? HELP! lol Mary
Myspace anyone?Posted Jul-22-06 17:17:45 PDT Updated Jul-22-06 17:22:50 PDT Melting in the California HeatPosted Jul-22-06 16:33:14 PDT Hey everyone, It's soo HOT here in SoCal. The weather service says it's only 110 degrees, but my thermometer reads almost 120.. in the shade ! I had to bust out the oven thermometer to find out it's over 150 degrees on the sidewalk. (I guess I COULD cook an egg if I wanted to..) So many people are using their air conditioners my power keeps tripping, so please expect some slight delays in processing orders today. Off to stand in front of the AC.. Mary
Busy, Busy, Busy!Posted Jul-06-06 12:38:08 PDT Hey everyone! I'm finally up to date again with all of my orders! *dance dance* Everything is finished and shipped, so if you're a buyer, expect your items SOON. ^_^ So, now that's all finished, all is quiet on the western front. I've been goofing around with some of my in-stock fabrics, making some stock soakers. I've listed 10 pairs, and the boot bags I mentioned in my last entry. I've recently taken to lining the soakers with polarfleece, rather than terry. It's softer, and I think it makes for a nicer shape; not to mention it comes in a HUGE variety of colors, and it's just as absorbent as terry. I have so much fabric here, it's taking over my house! My remnant pile is so large, I feel as if a small mountain has moved into my living room. Buyers, expect a lot of new soakers soon. Is it just me, or does it really irritate you when other sellers imitate you? I've been having a long standing competition with another eBay seller, who has a store similar to mine. I hate it when she steals my ideas and prices! Anyway .. rant over! Love you ! Mary
Wow my first blog entry!Posted Jun-27-06 08:57:38 PDT Updated Jun-27-06 08:57:59 PDT Hey everyone! Welcome to my Blog! ^_^ Some new fabrics coming soon in The Soaker Shack, and I'm starting to really get comfortable with my embroidery machine ( it's about time! lol ) so you may just see some cute new embroidered items soon! I've been playing around with a few different programs, creating some new fonts, learning to change color blocks within the futura program, and learning to use the auto-digitizing program, autopunch. (that program is a lifesaver lol) Right now I'm working on a quilt block purse that reads "I lost 150 lbs of useless fat! ... I dumped my boyfriend" ( haha that's true too! ) so far it's looking really good! ^_^ So, hopefully soon I'll be embroidering cute sayings and slogans on boot bags, towels etc. I've just about finished a set of boot bags that say " If you can't take the heat.. get off the ice!" and I think I'll make a pair to say "When Hell freezes over, I'll skate there too!" ^_^ My singer serger has been acting up lately :( I've had to keep changing the thread color in the Viking serger (threading a serger is a b***h, and I change colors quite often o_O ), rather than just using the other machine, so I've been working a little slower than usual. bleh. I'll try to get it in for service sometime this week. My sewing machine guru, Richard, does such an amazing job, it should be back up and running in no time! :D Apart from that, nothing much new at The Shack.. just the usual orders to finish, dog to feed, gas tank to fill... On a personal note, I've lost 23 lbs! *faints* That's what reeeallly wanting those jumps will do to you LOL. Sad thing is, I just spent quite a bit of cash on a super-cute pair of jeans.. and now they're 2 sizes too big! oh well lol. I landed my double axel ! Quite by accident lol. I was up in Lake Arrowhead, just doing single axels.. and they kept coming off over-rotated. o_O. So after a while, I got a little frustrated.. thinking well if it's going to be over rotated at least try the double.. just for fun. The first try was a quarter off, and the second try was spot on! ^_^ Tried it again in Ontario last week and nearly killed myself with dull blades haha. hmmmm other news in the world of Mary... *thinks* Still trying to sort out the paperwork for my University, *sighs* I'm supposed to move into my new apartment in 9 days.. we'll see. If not, I'll wait until the October quarter comes around. I haven't decided if I'll keep The Soaker Shack open while I'm in uni, I'll see how my classes line up and how much free time I have. I'd hate to give up my store (I love you guys!) but school comes first. That's all for today, xoxox Mary
